Details
AVETON GIFFORD - SX 65 SE 1/4 Barn and stables north of Bennicke GV II Barn over stable. Early C19. Rubble, slate roof. A hipped bank barn, on the upper side are 3 openings to plank doors. The lower, east front has two small openings flanking a stable door, three ventilating slits, one of these in a blocked former doorway, a narrow door, and, far right a wider opening with part of plank doors. First floor has one small square opening and one loading door; all openings to stone lintels or voussoirs. Upper level is 7 bays, king-post plus scissors trusses, 2 light purlins. Ground floor with heavy beams, some original stalls. A handsome building adjacent to the farmhouse (q.v.).
