AVETON GIFFORD FORE STREET SX 64 NE (east side) 4/26 Rockhill House - II Detached house on street junction. Early C19. Rendered rubble, exposed to back wall, double Roman tile roof. A compact, symmetrical central stair hall hipped block, set back from street frontage. Two storeys and attic, 3 windows; 16-pane sash, but 12-pane over central 6-panel door in panelled reveals and under flat- roofed canopy on 2 slender iron columns, sides glazed. Return to Rock Hill is plain, but with hipped dormer having glazed cheeks, and two large eaves stacks in stone, one of these cropped; left return similar, stacks raised in brick. Back has wide spaced 16-pane sashes, and central glazed door at landing level giving access via a small bridge to the garden. Interior not inspected. A house of greater importance in a very ordinary street row.
