DITTISHAM SX8654-SX8754 MANOR STREET 17/300 DITTISHAM (South side), Dartside

GV II

Small house. C17 or possibly earlier, remodelled in C18 and or C19. Stone rubble, roughcast and painted. Asbestos slate roof with gabled ends, the left hand end abuts Holly House (qv). Front lateral stack to left of centre with rendered shaft with set-offs and yellow clay louvred pot. Plan: 2-room plan, one of the rooms heated from the central lateral stack at the front and with a doorway at the left end of the front possibly giving direct entry into the left hand room. The outshut at the rear appears to be a remodelling of an earlier outshut. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window east front. 2 circa early C19 2-light casements on each floor, with glazing bars and an 8 panes per light, except for the first floor left hand casement which has 10 panes per light. C19 4-panel door to the left, the top panels glazled later. The right hand end of the front is recessed slightly land probably defines the projection of the lateral stack. Projecting at the extreme right hand end is a C20 single storey conservatory with large plate glass windows. the outshut at the rear appears to be a remodelling of an early outshut. Interior: not accessible at the time of survey 1987.
