Thickwood Lodge
16.12.75 II
Lodge. Mid C19, with C20 alterations and additions, in
imitation of the local C17 vernacular style. Coursed squared
gritstone with quoins, moulded kneelers, coped gables, and a
stone slated roof. Square on plan, each elevation being gabled,
with ashlar side gable stacks, and finials to the front and
rear. There is a continuous moulded stringcourse to the heads
of the ground and first floor windows. South-east elevation.
Single bay, with stacked 3-light chamfer mullioned windows to
the ground and first floors, with a small attic window with a
pointed head below the finial. Original doorway, now enclosed
by single storey porch. Single storey flat roofed extension to
north-west elevation. This lodge was built by the Duke of
Rutland for the Longshawe Estate.
