Details
PARISH OF ECKINGTON HAZELHURST LANE SK 38 SE 1/86 Povey Farmhouse 31.1.67 GV II Farmhouse. Early C17 with C20 alterations. Coursed coal measures sandstone with a shallow plain plinth, quoins, coped gables, stone ridge stacks and a plain tiled roof. Irregular plan, comprising a T-shaped range to west end, an intermediate linking range, and a gabled range to east end. South elevation. Two storeys, eight bays, with advanced three storeyed porch to west end, and advanced gable to east end. Windows formerly chamfer mullioned throughout, now with mullions mostly replaced by C20 joinery. West end bay with C20 windows, gabled porch with quoined door surround, massive lintel and wide planked door with cover strips. Stacked 2-light windows beneath dripmoulds, the window to the second floor being shallow. Intermediate range with wide 2-light flush mullioned windows, one now blocked. At east end, C17 doorway with chamfered surround and lintel, and above, a 2-light chamfer mullioned window. C17 blocked single light opening to side wall of advanced range at west end. West gable with stacked 3-light chamfer mullioned windows and plain dripmoulds. Interior has massive stone arched hearth to the ground floor, and a splat baluster stair to the rear stair tower.
