TQ 49 SE LAMBOURNE Forest Lodge 5/33 II

House, C17, extended in c19 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned approx. NE-SW, aspect SE. Large external chimney stack on SW end, and another on the rear wall of the NE bay. Original rear wing from SW bay. C19 extension with slate roof in N angle, and single-storey extension to NE of it with hipped roof of red clay Roman tiles, C19/20. Single-storey lean-to extension in W angle, roofed with machine-made red clay tiles, C20. 2 storeys. Ground floor, glazed door in wide glazed porch, 2 bay windows, all C20. First floor, 3 double-hung sash windows of 6 lights, late C19. Grouped diagonal shafts on both chimney stacks. Some framing exposed internally. Stop-chamfered axial beams above NE and SW ground floor rooms, joists plastered to the soffits. Both hearths reduced for C20 fireplaces, mantel beam visible in SW ground floor room. RCHM 9.
