Details
ST. OSYTH SPRING LANE TM 1215 (east side) 15/184 Nos. 37, 39 and 41. GV II Row of cottages. C17 with later alterations and rear additions. Timber framed and rough rendered. Red plain tiled roof. Off centre left and end right red brick chimney stacks, also a C19 stack to left single storey extension, probably a former bakehouse. 2 storeys. 4 window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, moulded surrounds, pentice boards to ground floor. 3 C20 panelled doors, pentice boards over. Internally the pegged frame appears virtually complete with through bracing, and stop chamfered joists and many carpenters marks. Back to back inglenook fireplace with semi-circular backs, similar single fireplace to end cottage, but now blocked by C20 heating. Stairs around chimneys. Vertically boarded chimney cupboards and doors most with hand wrought ironmongery.
