5 terraced houses. c1792. Built by C Mead. For W and J Adam.
Yellow stock brick, Nos 52 and 56 with stucco ground floors.
Plain stucco 1st floor sill bands.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys and basements. 3 windows each except No.62
with 2 windows. Gauged brick flat arches (No.60 reddened) to
recessed sashes. Parapets.
No.52: stucco ground floor. Round-arched doorway with
side-lights, enriched entablature-head, patterned radial
fanlight and panelled door. No.54: C20 reproduction shopfront
(with Ionic pilasters and bowed windows) and house door.
No.56: stucco ground floor. Round-arched doorway with
sidelights, enriched entablature-head, radial patterned
fanlight and panelled door. Continuous cast-iron balcony at
1st floor level. No.60: round-arched doorway with Roman Doric
columns carrying enriched entablature-head; radial patterned
fanlight and panelled door. No.62: round-arched doorway with
stucco cavetto surround, cornice-head, radial fanlight and
panelled door.
INTERIORS: not inspected but noted to retain some panelled
hall dados and open staircases with square balusters and
column-newels.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached cast-iron railings with urn
finials to area.
