Former Royal Naval Hospital: Stables
GV II
Stabling to former Naval Hospital. 1758-65, part of the
original scheme by Alexander Rovehead for the Navy Board. Red
brick laid to English bond; segmental brick arches over
windows; oak lintels over doorways; corrugated asbestos hipped
roof. Rectangular plan.
Single storey; 4-window range. Fixed lights with glazing bars.
3 large doorways with double doors: centre and at far left and
right, and 5 small doorways irregularly disposed, all with
ledged doors.
INTERIOR: has original brick floor and simple roof trusses
where inspected.
Part of an outstanding and complete military hospital complex.
