SX4854SW LOOE STREET, Barbican 740-1/62/14 (South side) 01/05/75 No.27 (Formerly Listed as: LOOE STREET, Plymouth No.27)

GV II

Town house with later shop. Mid C18. Painted brick front; steep asbestos slate hipped roof behind coped parapet with wooden modillion cornice. Fairly deep plan. 3 storeys; 3-window range with stuccoed 1st-floor keyblocks and mid-floor bands. Late C19 or C20 12-pane horned sashes under flat arches. Ground floor has mid-late C19 pilastered shopfront with moulded cornice to fascia entablature and consoles; 2-light shop window with transom probably later C19; shop doorway on its right and house doorway with original 6-panel door with fielded panels at far right. INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest. Part of a significant group of C17 and C18 houses. (The Buildings of England: Pevsner N: Devon: London: 1989-: 664).
