Details
SP 9435-9535 ASPLEY GUISE THE SQUARE 7/17 The Holt GV II House, now hotel. Formerly called Moore Place, built c.1786 by Francis Moore. Altered and extended C19. Red brick laid in header bond, most bricks vitrified with red brick dressings. 2-span slate roof. 3 storeyed double- pile plan. 3 window facade. Venetian windows to ground floor and centre of first floor. Diocletian window to centre of 2nd floor. Others are square- headed windows. All are sashes with glazing bars under gauged brick heads. Central C19 porch, distyle in antis, with heavy moulded entablature. Panelled door, surmounted by semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars, and flanked by side-lights. Modillion cornice to eaves. External multiple chimney stacks to both side elevations. C19 lower block to RH in similar style.
