Details

TEMPSFORD CHURCH STREET TL 1653 (Church End) 9/94 No. 42 (The Wheatsheaf) GV II Public house. C18 and C19. Colourwashed roughcast render, apparently containing some timber framing. Clay tile roofs, that to RH part of slightly steeper pitch. Front block is in 2 parts, LH part a 3-window range, earlier RH part a 2-window range with lower eaves level. 2 storeys and attics. LH part has central doorway containing 6-panel door and surmounted by flat hood on cut brackets. To RH is canted bay containing sashes with glazing bars. Other ground and first floor windows are 2-light casements with top lights, all with glazing bars. Attic has 2 hipped dormers containing 2-light casements. RH part has 2-light casements with top lights and glazing bars. Coved plaster eaves cornice to RH part only. Red brick multiple ridge stack at junction between 2 blocks. Various additions project from rear.
