Barn approx 160 metres West South West of 5/230 Colesden Grange Farmhouse
- II
Barn . Probably C14, circa C17 midstrey and C17 or C18 extension. Weatherboarded timber frame. Corrugated sheet steel roof with jowled ends. 5-bay barn with aisles on east and west sides. Midstrey added to east side in C17 to bay 2 from north end and in C17/C18 a 2-bay extension was built on the north end. The east side has large gabled midstrey to right of centre with plank double doors and extension set back on right. The west side has cart entrance to left of centre breaking eaves with raking roof; extension set back on left. Interior: The roof above the tie-beams has been replaced, but below the structure is largely complete. Large jowled arcade and aisle posts. Passing braces from aisle posts to tie beams halved and lapped to the posts, tie-beam and aisle ties. Straight braces from aisle post mortice and tenoned to arcade plates and aisle ties. Wall studding with out mid rails and with straight tension braces. Purlins corner rafters replaced. Clasped purlin to midstrey. North extension has jowled wall posts but roof replaced.
