House. Mid C17th west wing, south porch and east wing date "1677" in gable of porch; restored 1982/83. South elevation. West (left) wing. Rubble; slate roof with coped raised verge. 1 storey and attic in steep stone gable. 1 window: 3- and 4-light modern casements. Central porch: 2 storeys; gable; 4-centred arch headed doorcase under hood mould; keyed oval window on first floor under drip mould; date in panel above; small keyed oval window to side; inned studded plank door in moulded architrave. East (right) wing. Coursed squared rubble; concrete tiled hipped roof. 2 storeys and attics in hipped dormers. 2 cross windows with ogee and ovolo mouldings, under continuous string course on ground floor; keyed oval windows in dormers. North elevation. Both west and east wing project so that the north porch tower is recessed. East wing: 2 storeys, attic and basement; 6-pane glazing bar sash windows. West wing: 2 storeys and attic; two 2-light casement windows on ground floor; wood casement with ovolo moulded mullion and cross window to right; 3-light casement on first floor; 2-light casement in gable. North porch tower: 3 storeys; gabled; 6 panel door with fluted pilasters and blocked side-lights with keyed arch heads, voussoirs to lintel, flat stone hood on carved consoles; 4-light cross window above with ogee moulded mullion and surrounds; keyed oval window under drip mould in gable. Library (north-east room): large carved fireplace with Ionic pilasters and decorative frieze, partially blocked and inset with early C18th fireplace. Drawing Room (south-east): recently uncovered moulded frame ceiling (ogee/ovolo moulding); stone fireplace with lugged architrave and pulvinated frieze. Staircase: oak mid - late C17th staircase with pierced, carved flat balusters, pendants and finials. 3 inner studded plank doors; strap hinges with fleur de lys ends. South-west bedroom has C17th panelled cupboard with decorative frieze; bolection moulded fireplace. Country Life, 23.11.1929.
