TL 6832 FINCHINGFIELD THE GREEN (south-east side)

7/51 Brick House

21.12.67 GV II House. C18. Plum brick mainly in header bond with dressings of red brick, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Long range facing N, with 2 rear wings forming a half H-plan. One axial stack, one external stack at left end. 2 storeys. 7-window range of C18 sashes of 12 lights, with flat arches. Some crown glass. Off-centre 6-panel door with moulded doorcase and pediment on heavy consoles with foliate carving, at the head of 4 stone steps. Band of 3 courses of red brick at first-floor level, moulded brick cornice and plain parapet. Brick coping on gables. Dentilled cornice below eaves of left return wall of rear wing. Railings approx. 1 metre from front elevation, extending across whole front and returning to house at ends, consisting of 8 cast iron stanchions of cannon-derived design with wrought iron spearhead bars, height approx. 1 metre.
