River bridge. C18, widened 1975. Rusticated ashlar, parapets and arch soffits ashlar. Parapets concrete, ashlar faced and coped. 5 arches, the 3 centre arches segmental with rusticated voussoimand masonry, the centre arch flanked by rusticated pilasters springing from small cutwaters and carried above string at road level in narrower form to stone coping. The abutments at the ends of the 3 centre arches are 3 sided projecting embrasures. The outer arches are smaller and semi-circular. At each end of the bridge is about 30 feet of walling curving outwards. In1975 the County Engineer doubled the width of the bridge and restored the ashlar facings. ANCIENT MONUMENT
