Details

SOWERBY BRIDGE WILLOW HALL DRIVE SE 0624 (north side, off) 10/304 Lower Willow Hall - GV II House, now 2. 1790 with addition of 1860. Coursed squared stone with some C19 brick; stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 X 3 bays with C19 range to rear. South (garden) front: central bay canted. Ashlar plinth, rusticated quoins and cill bands; moulded cornice. 4-pane sashes to ground floor of canted bay and right-hand bays, otherwise sashes with glazing bars, all in raised ashlar surrounds. Hipped roof. Brick stacks with ashlar bands flank central bay. Right return: as front, with door in right bay having overlight and shouldered surround in later trellis porch. Central first-floor window is a sash with glazing bars. C19 range breaks forward on right and has a door with 2 etched glass round-arched panels and initialled overlight. Left return: in left bay a 4-panel door with side windows and ashlar jambs rising into a keyed Venetian stair window, the arched window retaining a sash with glazing bars. Interior: panelled doors in architraves with decorative friezes. Stair has shallow stone treads, decorative iron balusters and moulded mahogany handrail with curtail.
