Details

BISBROOKE GLASTON ROAD SP 89 NE 4/5 No 7. GV II

House. C15-C16 in origin, of cruck construction; remodelled early C17 on cross-passage plan; refenestrated C19-C20. Coursed ironstone rubble, the rear wall roughcast and colourwashed; thatch roof; brick chimneys to right gable and to right of centre. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Left bays have C20 barred wooden casements, the lower windows with wooden lintels, the upper windows slightly in the roof and set in thatch eyebrows. Right bay has one 2-light casement of similar type below the eaves, and 2 more to ground floor with stone lintels. The left of these 2 windows is set into former doorway of cross-passage. Present entry is via flush-panelled door with flat wooden hood on brackets between left bays. Small C20 lean-to to rear. Interior has one complete cruck truss between left bays, and most of one blade of another truss in left gable end. Stack inserted C17 in line with winder stair. Cross-passage to right of stack has been absorbed into right bay by removal of partition wall. Centre bay, right bay and passage have deeply chamfered spine beams with moulded stops, the right bay with moulded bracket at one end.
