Details

1. 5118 BITTON GOLDEN VALLEY Boyd Farmhouse ST 6870 13/14 II 2. Formerly a corn-mill. Late C17 structure possibly incorporating older work. 'L'-plan. Picturesquely gabled with C19 and later alterations. Rendered walling, pantile roofs. Front has 2 small gables with copings and saddlestones to right and one large gable with rendered stack at apex to left. Two storeys, plus attics in gables. Three windows, 2-light stone mullioned casements to 1st floor and attics, later 3-light stone mullioned casements to ground floor. Windows long mullion type (formerly transomed) to ground and 1st floors. Chamfered door opening to left, narrower door opening right of centre, later closed porch to right with patterned panelling to door. Square, restored, ashlar stacks on ridge. Small oval window in right hand end gable face. Gabled 2 storey 2 bay wing to rear with stone ball finial. Gabled stair turret (modern staircase) in angle with door to left. Rear: 2 ranges of 2-light mullion windows and 2 modern windows. Single storey extension to left. Interior: chamfered beams in present kitchen and parlour. Large fireplace in centre with back door beside it as lobby-entrance.
