Details
BRAY HIBBERT ROAD SU 87 NE (south side) Braywick 9/16 Greenways Cottage, Hazel Cottage, Pear Tree Cottage, Hope Cottage, Rose Cottage II Row of 5 cottages. c 1780, extended 1870. Brick with patterned grey header bricks in gables. Old tile gabled roof with crested ridge tiles. Long rectangular plan with 2 end gabled extensions. 2 storeys. 3 chimneys with clay pots. 2-light C18 and C19 horizontal sash windows with glazing bars. Some C20 casement windows with glazing bars, all with segmental heads. South-west front: symmetrical. 3 bay central pedimented gable with dentilled and offset eaves, finial with weathervane and semi-circular carved stone panel in tympanum with the inscription 18 I.H. 70; middle bay, blind opening on first floor, plank entrance door on ground floor. 2 outer gables of one bay each. 2 sections each side of centre, 3 bays each, centre bay blind opening first floor, plank entrance doors on ground floor, that on the left under C20 enclosed gabled porch with half- glazed door. The entrances to Greenways Cottage and Rose Cottage are on the left and right side fronts.
