2. 1836 by Cooper and Son, former Workhouse. Early example of a workhouse. Slate, hipped roofs, stock bricks built round two courtyards - long blocks, one on each side with end pavilions set forward and central block with pediment set forward, vertical sliding windows some with glazing bars, stone cills, 2:6:1:5:1:6:2. Courtyard facades now painted. Later separate block to north in similar style.
