4/98 Pumping station at Lock 38

GV II

Pumping station. Circa 1838-41. Brown brick in English bond, with off-set eaves and hipped slate roof. Right end wall is rendered. Openings have semi-circular arched heads. Front to canal has large central window with cast iron glazing bars that have decorative roundels at intersections. Flanking double doors with radiating fanlights. Similar window at each end. (A.H.
