TRENT ADBER ST 52 SE Adber House and 1/177 Adber Cottage GV II

House and cottage in one attached range. Early C18, with C19 and C20 refenestration. Dressed stone walls. Patent tile roofs with stone gable-copings. Stone and brick stacks on house gables, and on central gable of cottage. Two storeys. 4 windows to house, 3- and 4-light wood casements with glazing-bars, iron casements with lead lights, wood cills and lintels, some C20 renewals. Front door at centre, flush-panelled and with 2 top lights, C19. Cottage to roadside has two windows. The last unit, former workshop, is unfenestrated. Entrance to cottage is at rear, through stable-type door in outshut, C20. Interior of house has deep-chamfered ceiling-beams and stepped stops. Flagstones. Large open fireplace with chamfered wood lintel, two bread ovens within fireplace. (RCHM, Dorset I, p 260 (32)).
