Pair of cottages in row. c. C17 core, with C19 refashioning. Rubble-
stone walls. Thatch roof with gable ends. Two gabled half-dormers to
the front. Brick stacks at left and right hand gables. Stone stack
at ridge centre, with a brick capping. 1½ storeys. 3 windows, mainly
2-light wood casements with glazing-bars, wood cills and lintels. Gabled
dormers: no. 438 has 2 dormers under one large gable; no. 439 has one
dormer under a smaller gable. Front doors, no. 438, at centre, panelled
and studded, C20. No 439, right of centre, plank door and wood frame,
C19. Probable early features to interiors, access not obtained. The late
C19 extension at south end is not of special interest.
