THORNFORD ST 6013-6113 POUND ROAD (east side) 16/153 Pyt House and attached front walls 11.7.51 GV II

Detached house. Late C17. Dressed stone walls, with Ham stone dressings and strings, and ashlar quoins, large thatch roof with gable ends and stone gable-copings. Brick stacks at gable-ends, rebuilt C19. Two storeys and attics. 4 windows, hollow-chamfered stone mullions of 4, 2, 2, 4 lights to ground floor, and 3, 2, 2, 3 lights to first floor. Iron casements with horizontal glazing-bars. Continuous label to ground floor, stepped up over doorway. 3 separate labels, central combining two, over the first floor windows. Front doorway at centre with straight-chamfered jambs and depressed-arch head. Plank door with two lights. Interior: 3 units, with large central hall. North room has a stone fireplace with straight-chamfered jambs and cambered head, late C17. Mid-chamfered ceiling-beams with run-out stops. First floor, has some plank-and-muntin partitioning from landing south, C17. Flagstone floor in Hall. Attached brick sleeper-walls to front garden, stone-coped with C19 iron railings and gateway, brick return walls to house also stone-coped. (RCHM, Dorset I, p 251(12)).
