CASTLETON SHERBORNE PARK ST 6416 12/33 Stable Block and Coach Houses immediately west of The Stables 7.11.51 GV II

Detached stable block. Early C19 in C17 style. Coursed dressed stone walls, with moulded stone cornice and ashlar quoins to coach-houses. Slate roof with gable-ends. One storey central range, with 2-storey coach houses at either end. Central range, of 7 bays, 2-light cross-transomed windows with flat stone mullions and architraves, stone cills and diagonally-leaded lights, alternate with doors which have flat stone architraves. Door with 6 recess- vertical panels, C19. Two-storey coach-houses, have entrances on east side, with similar architraves, pedimented over. 2-light windows over with archi- trave. Above the parapet are ball-finials. (RCHM Dorset I, p.69(5).
