Ornamental gates and railings. Late C19. Cast-iron with gilded cresting and rusticated Portland stone piers. Central double gates with Royal Arms in centre; single side gates topped with acanthus leaf and fleur-de-lys pattern.
Four gate piers have cornices, the inner pair are panelled with a central circular motif, an upper stage with garlands and surmounted by Royal Arms; that on the left supported by a Lion, that on the right by a Unicorn. The outer pair have ball finials.
The railings have gilded fleur-de-lys heads and are set on low, stone-coped brick walls on either side of gates, those on the right front Old Golden Gate Lodge (qv). The railings are finished by piers similar to outer gate piers.
The gates were the former entrance to Ascot Racecourse.
