Probably a hall house, now public house with restaurant. C16 altered and extended C18, C19 and C20. Part timber frame with painted brick infill, part painted brick. Slate gabled and hipped roofs. Formerly rectangular plan of 5 framed bays with probably smoke bay, now U-plan with extension at front and irregular extensions at rear. EXTERIOR: single storey and 2 storeys. Large ridge chimney with corniced head and clay pots. Lower chimney at rear, tall chimney in 3 stages projecting from front wall at left. Sash windows with glazing bars; casement windows with glazing bars. Entrance (south) front: irregular. Some timber framing visible in centre. Squint by adjoining chimney on left, planked entrance door to right of this. Additional door, part glazed under segmental arched head on right end. 4 casement windows on first floor, each of 2-lights, the 2 on the left older and smaller. Three, 3-light casement windows on ground floor, the 2 windows on the right have segmental arched heads. C18 2 storey plain extension on right with plain wooden door in recessed opening with segmental arched head. Single storey extension on left with pantile roof. INTERIOR: exposed wide joists on ground floor and old brick fireplace. Some timber frame exposed on first floor.
