1/70 Carpenter's Cottage, and the National Trust Shop and Information Centre
GV II
Former boathouse or workshop now used as shop and information centre, with attached cottage. Central section possibly C18, extended in mid-C19. Brick walls, part plastered, roof part tiled, part slated, with battlemented parapet to gable end. Plastered stacks in cottage section. At right angles to quay. 2 storeys. Elevation to quay has, in centre, a raised gable with offset brick courses at base of parapet. Pair of glazed doors on ground floor. On first floor, a single glazed door leading onto a timber balcony approached by an external timber stair. Left section has small brick battlemented porch and, on each floor, one sash window with glazing bars. Right section, Carpenter's Cottage, has plastered walls. Shop window on ground floor with glazing bars and timber surround and entablature. First floor has one sash window with vertical glazing bars. A National Trust property. RCHM Monument 3. (Dorset Vol. II).
