Details

KELLOE B 1278 NZ 33 NE (North side, off) Town Kelloe 8/74 Kelloe Hall II Farmhouse, now 2 private dwellings. Early-mid C18 possibly incorporating an older core. Pebble-dashed brick and rubble; Welsh slate roof and rebuilt chimney stacks. Double span. 3 storeys. Altered 4-bay entrance front, the 2 centre bays narrower. Central replaced door and 6-panel door to right, both in C20 concrete surrounds. 12-pane sashes, slightly shorter on top floor, with projecting painted stone sills. Narrow 6-pane sashes in left end bay. Slightly wider, 6-bay rear range facing garden has central 5-panel door and a pair of C20 French windows at right, both under C20 glazed gabled porches. Three bays at left retain 12-pane sashes on ground and first floors and square 6-pane sashes above. Three bays at right have some blocked and altered openings and a large mid-wall, 12-pane stair window. Steeply-pitched 2-span roof with end and ridge stacks. Interior: rear range contains a closed-string, dogleg staircase, of 2 flights plus landing rail, with 2 column-on-vase balusters per tread and a moulded square-sectional handrail. Altered farmhouse on left return of front range, C20 addition on left bay and single-storey wing on right return are not of special interest.
