BRANCEPETH A 690 NZ 23 NW (South side) Scripton 5/2 Scripton Farmhouse with adjoining dairy/cheese-room II Farmhouse, now 2 dwellings, with former dairy/cheese-room. Mid C19 for Brancepeth Estate. Squared sandstone in narrow courses with ashlar dressings. Graduated green slate roofs and ashlar chimney stacks. Tudor style. Main block with dairy adjoining on left. 2-storey, 3-bay front, the centre bay projecting and cross gabled, the end bays each with 2 openings. Openings in chamfered surrounds. Panelled door at right and narrow 4-pane sashes at left. 12-pane sashes elsewhere. Small round-arched louvred opening under dripmould in gable of centre bay. Small gable over first-floor window of left bay. Steeply-pitched roof has overhanging eaves with exposed rafter ends and verges with pierced bargeboards. Transverse left end chimney and central ridge chimneys with tall octagonal stacks. 2-storey cross-gabled wing on right rear has similar details. One-storey, octagonal-plan dairy has 12-pane sashes and a steeply-pitched pyramidal roof with overhanging bracketed eaves. Central louvred octagonal lantern with pyramidal roof and spike finial. C20 additions on left rear of farmhouse are not of interest.
