BRANCEPETH THE VILLAGE NZ 23 NW (East side) 5/38 Inset No. 13 10/5/67 (Magnolia Cottage), Nos. 14,15 and 16 (formerly listed as Nos.13,14,15 and 16 Brancepeth) GV II

Terrace of 4 estate cottages. Mid C19 for Brancepeth Estate. Squared sandstone with ashlar dressings; graduated green slate roof and rendered stone chimney stacks. Tudor style. 2 storeys. Symmetrical frontage: 4-bay centre flanked by wide projecting cross-gabled bays with narrow set-back outer end bays. Vertical-ribbed doors and overlights in moulded surrounds with shouldered heads: No. 13 in right end bay, No. 16 in left end bay, Nos. 14 and 15 in end bays of centre block. Double-chamfered, stone-mullioned windows have side-hung iron casements with latticed glazing: 3-light on ground-floor, 2-light above; the centre block with gabled half dormers. Dormers, cross- gabled bays and steeply-pitched main roof have overhanging eaves and verges, the latter with finials and pierced bargeboards. 3 groups of ridge chimneys with tall, clustered diagonal stacks. C20 rear additions are not of interest.
