4/40 Linked farmbuildings at Hurworth Bryan Farm II

Farmbuildings. C18 combined threshing barn and granary, C18 byre, late C18 horsegin and early C19 range of loose boxes. Limestone and sandstone rubble with some brick infill; pantiled roofs. Linked buildings enclose small yard: L-plan threshing barn and granary with horsegin to west, loose boxes to south-west and byre to south-east.

2-storey, 4-bay threshing barn and 3-bay granary have several altered openings and some blocked first floor breathers. Roof has coped gables and is hipped at angle; central section of ridge of threshing barn heightened in mid C20.

Horsegin with semi-hexagonal west end; later rubble infill walls with inserted windows between piers. Modified king-post truss supports semi-pyramidal roof.

Single-storey, 4-bay range of loose boxes has central circular pier dividing double bay with two C20 boarded doors; end bays have single doorways, north bay with remains of a fireplace. Roof hipped to south.

2-store, 4-bay byre linked to threshing barn by short section of wall, canted on plan. Vehicle entrance in south gable end. Altered openings. 4 raised cruck - trusses support steeply-pitched roof with raised verges. Lean-to meal house attached to east wall. Short section of wall attached to south-west partly encloses yard.

Detached byre, 10 metres to east, not of special interest. Farmbuildings derelict at time of survey.
