Details

HORSMONDEN MAIDSTONE ROAD TQ 74 SW (west side) 1/84 Oasthouse and wall attached about 15 metres north-east of Kirkins Farmhouse GV II

Oasthouse. Early C19. Red brick and plain tiled roof. Oast range with single storey stowage and roundel combined, the roundel truncated and with hipped roof stepped up to right from stowage. Cart doorway in stowage, pedestrian doorway in roundel. Projecting at left a 2 storey block, with hipped roof, and with loft door and metal casement on first floor and wooden casement on ground floor and with cart doors in left return hip end. A wall about 6 feet high leads from this block to the farmhouse, from which it is separated by a segmentally beaded boarded door. Lean-to attached to rear of wall. Included for group value.
