Former Railway Goods Agents’ Office, built around 1840 for the Stockton & Darlington Railway, forming part of the railway’s North Road Station complex. It is of two storeys and three bays, built of coursed freestone with raised quoins and a first-floor band. The hipped and slated roof is of moderate pitch and has a central chimney stack that is built of stone ashlar with a cornice. The sash windows have glazing bars and are recessed, set within raised stone surrounds. The central door is set within a similar surround on the north elevation facing the II* Listed Goods Station, the door being of six-panels and with an oblong fanlight above.
Included partly for group value and historical associations with the internationally pioneering railway.
