MIDDLETON IN TEESDALE HUDE (South side) NY9425 24/106 The Rectory

GV II Rectory. Dated 1829; for Rev. J.H. Brown. Coursed squared sandstone with stone quoins and ashlar dressings; roof of graduated Lakeland slate with grey ridge tiles. 2 storeys, 3 bays and set-back left extension of 2 low storeys, one bay. Central 6-panel door and 3-pane overlight in surround of stone jambs with impost blocks and panelled dated lintel. Sashes with glazing bars have flat stone lintels and slightly-projecting stone sills. Similar lintels and sills to 16-pane sashes in set-back bay. Quoins to set-back bay only, which may be part of earlier building on the site. Roof of main block has end chimneys. Rear elevation shows round-headed stair window with glazing bars.
