24/124 Middleton Working 14/9/66 Men's Club (formerly listed in Newbiggin Road)

GV II House, now club. Early C18. Herringbone-tooled coursed squared sandstone with painted projecting dressings and quoins. Roof of graduated green slates with stone gable copings. 3 storeys, 4 bays. Ground floor altered. C20 6-panel door in pedimented doorcase at left; and stone surround to wide window with 2 lights, blank panel and 4 lights, all with C20 glazing. Tooled stone surrounds to 12-pane first-floor sashes with fine glazing bars and 9-pane second-floor sashes with broad glazing bars. Roof has flat stone gable coping on moulded kneelers, those at front with drop moulding; end chimney. Left return has C20 ground-floor window, and 2 attic windows with plain stone surrounds. Rear has flat stone surround to central round-headed stair sash with glazing bars. C20 rear extension not of interest.
