HAMSTERLEY DANIEL LANE (East NZ12NW side off)

18/49 Low Stonechester II Farmhouse. Early C18 with alterations. Thinly-rendered rubble with large millstone grit quoins and ashlar dressings. Roof of pantiles, with 2 rows of stone flags at rear eaves; rendered chimneys. 2 storeys, 2 bays, with one- storey, one-bay right extension. North elevation has flat stone lintels and sills to large ground-floor windows, with 6-pane fixed lights below 4-pane transoms, and first-floor horizontal sliding sashes below 4-pane transoms at eaves level. Roof has swept eaves and square end chimneys with top strings. Blank set-back right extension Rear has door in one-storey, one-bay outshut under catslide roof, and flat-roofed C20 2-storey, one-bay extension. Interior shows 2-panel door between 2 ground-floor rooms; long, slightly arched fire beam, and small cupboard above, now papered over; L-plan stair,in outshut,with plain handrail and lower rail; roof trusses in first-floor rooms show feet of principals below eaves.
