Details

HAMSTERLEY THE GREEN NYll3l (West end) 23/57 Prospect House GV II House. Mid C18 with late C19 addition and alterations. Main block thin courses of squared sandstone with quoins and ashlar dressings; rear additions snecked stone. Roofs stone flags, with stone gable copings, Welsh slate with yellow brick chimney and pantiles. L-plan with left rear added wing. Main block 2 storeys, 3 bays with one-storey, one-bay pent addition. Central half- glazed door in porch with bargeboards. Flanking canted bay windows with bracketed cornices; late C19 first-floor sashes, the central narrow, with roughly-cut voussoirs, partly obscured by ivy at time of survey. Roof has moulded kneelers, very tall end chimneys, and corniced yellow brick chimney on rear wing. Left pent extension with pantiled roof. Left return shows blank gable to main block, with boarded door in pent extension. Gabled 3-storey one- bay rear wing has late C19 sashes with flat stone lintels and sills. Interior: 6-panel doors in main range; dado rail in central passage; right ground-floor room has round-headed cupboard, with shaped shelves, and doors removed, to right of c. 1900 chimney piece; dentilled stucco cornice. Corner fire in C18 right rear wing, with C20 fire surround.
