Garden walls, early C18 heightened in late C18 or C19; Garden House probably
early C19. South wall brick in irregular bond, other walls brick with rubble
outer faces, cut stone dressings. Garden House has front of squared tooled
stone, other elevations rubble; Welsh slate roof. Outbuildings rubble with
stone slate roofs.
Garden c.110 x 65 metres, with Garden House front forming east part of north
side, and rear wall of Stable Block (q.v.) forming most of east side. Tall
walls with flat stone coping. Central north gateway has squared stone piers
with block caps and ball finials. 2 doorways at south east corner, the
southern segmental-arched; enlarged gateway at west of south wall. Heating
ducts in south wall.
Garden House 2 storeys, 3 + 1 bays. Raised quoins. Renewed door in second
bay; 16-pane sash windows with slightly-projecting sills, except for small
inserted lst-floor window between right bays. Hipped roof with 2 banded
ridge stacks. Rear central 6-panel door with 2-pane overlight and 16-pane
sash above. Pent-roofed outbuildings to right include cottage, with two
9-pane sashes under timber lintels, and 5-bay cartshed with timber lintels
on stone piers.
Outbuildings are included for group value.
Attached outbuildings at rear of west garden wall are not of special interest.
