15/17 Ha-Ha wall and gates to east and south-east of Barningham Park
GV II
Ha-Ha wall, probably C18. Squared stone with cut dressings; gates cast and wrought iron. Wall curves east and then south from east end of kitchen wing to gate into wood, with adjacent gateway between wood and deer park; ha-ha continues south up hill alongside garden terraces, to south-east corner of garden. North part of ha-ha wall has chamfered coping and gateway with small rusticated piers carrying ball finials; second section has segmental-arched coping as far as gate into wood; octagonal monolith piers hold wrought-iron gate, with 6 steps down between flat-coped walls. Adjacent gatway has massive roughly-arched monolith piers holding double gates with fleur-de-lys tops to bars and dogbars. South part of wall,running steeply uphill, has no coping.
