LANGLEYDALE AND SHOTTON COPLEY NZ 02 NE 3/47 Lead Mill house north of Steel Gill
GV II
Lead Mill manager's house. Early C19 for 3rd Earl of Darlington. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins and sandstone dressings; stone-flagged roof with stone and brick chimneys. 2-storey, 3-bay house and set-back left wing one storey, 2 bays. Central door with 4 beaded panels under 4-pane overlight and flat stone lintel; sashes with glazing bars, flat stone lintels and projecting stone sills in outer bays; trompe l'oeil window over door. Left wing has sashes with lattice glazing bars; similar glazing bars in 2-light horizontal sliding sash in left return of main block. End brick chimneys on main block; 2 stone ridge chimneys on left wing.
