GV I

Barn circa 1000. Timber framed and weatherboarded. Corrugated asbestos roof hipped, with gablet, to left. Recessed double doors to left and smaller double doors to right. Aisled, 7 bays. Side purlin queen strut roof construction. Though partly rebuilt the barn retains one pair of freestanding posts, that to the west has been re-used in circa 1200 during a Norman re-build. Its opposite to the South is earthfast, now as when first erected. The posts are double braced. Various types of framing remain including reversed assembly at the North West eaves and doubled tie beams at the North end. Roof re-built but contains original rafters. The building is specified, with measurements in the St. Paul's Cathedral archives, previous owners of the farm.
