BANK STREET 1. 885 (West Side) BRAINTREE No 1 (Barclay's Bank) TL 7523 1/211 II GV 2. A good early C19 buff gault brick building with a return north front on Rayne Road. 3 storeys. The east front has 5 window range and the north and south ends, each with 2 window range, break forward slightly and are pedimented. The north front has 3 window range and the east and west ends, each with 1 window range, break forward slightly. The windows are double hung sashes, with glazing bars in the 1st and 2nd storey windows and C20 plain glass in ground storey windows. 1st storey windows have moulded stucco architraves and cornices on console brackets. A stucco band runs between ground and 1st storeys. The east front has a central doorway with a stucco Doric porch with square pillars and fluted columns in antis, frieze and cornice. The north front has a central Ionic stucco porch with pilasters, plain columns in antis, frieze and cornice. Roof slate with a wood eaves cornice.

Nos 1, 3, 9 and 11 form a group with Nos 2 to 8 (even) Rayne Road and White Hart Hotel and No 2 Bocking End, Booking.
