TL 51 NE GREAT CANFIELD HELLMAN'S CROSS

2/19 HADEN'S END

GV II House, late C16, extended in C17 and C20. Timber-framed, plastered, thatched roof. 3 bays with axial chimney stack in middle bay, with C17 extension to SE and end chimney stack, and C20 flat-roofed single-storey extension beyond. C20 extension to NE, single storey with attics. C20 porch extension to SW. Single storey with attics. On ground floor, 3 C20 casement windows, 2 C17 windows of 2 fixed lights and one wrought-iron casement, plain door with shallow hood. 2 gabled dormers, one with C20 casement window, one with C17 window of 2 fixed and wrought iron casement. Roof half-hipped at NW end only. Jowled storey posts, cambered tiebeams, curved tension bracing trenched inside studs, one unglazed window with diamond mullions in SE end wall of original house, now in an open partition. 5 C17 windows present, with wrought iron casements and leaded glass, some original. Some original floorboards.
