House. C15, altered in C16, C18 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
slate. Hall house of half-H plan facing SE, with internal stack at junction of
hall and right crosswing. Rear extension at left end, and single-storey lean-to
extension in rear angle. 2 storeys and cellar. Ground floor, one late C19 sash
of 6 lights, most of frontage occupied by C20 display windows. First floor, 4
late C19 sashes of 6 lights. C20 half-glazed door. Roof hipped at right end
only. Interior not examined at time of survey, December 1984, but RCHM 10
reports that the hall is of 2 bays with a cambered tiebeam, cross-quadrate
crownpost with 4-way bracing, and C16 inserted floor; that the right crosswing
is of 3 bays with plain crownposts and axial bracing, and that the left
crosswing has a crownpost roof also. Early C17 panelling in ground floor of
hall and left ground floor room.
