TERLING SPARROW'S FARM ROAD TL 71 SE (north side) 5/153 Complete complex of farm buildings east of Sparrow's Farmhouse excluding the barn, listed separately as item 5/152

GV II Complex of farm buildings. C18 and C19. Some timber framed and weatherboarded, some of red brick in Flemish bond, variously roofed with red clay 'Roman' tiles, red clay pantiles, plain tiles, corrugated iron and thatch. Spine range aligned NW-SE, based on the thatched barn which is listed separately as item 5/152. 3 spur ranges extending to the SW, forming 3 foldyards open to the SW. These spur ranges comprise (1) at the SE end, a timber framed range with shallow-pitched hipped roof of red clay 'Roman' tiles comprising a cartlodge having 4 bays open to the SE, and a stable with halved door facing NW (2) a timber framed shelter shed with shallow-pitched roof of red clay 'Roman' tiles, with 4 bays open to the NW; plain tiled lobby to it on the SE side, and lean-to extensions to each side, roofed with corrugated iron (3) a double-sided timber framed shelter shed with shallow-pitched hipped roof of red clay 'Roman' tiles, in 4 bays with spine wall, open to NW and SE. All the foregoing items are C18, with bolted knees to the tiebeams, and clasped purlin roofs. (4) L-shaped range of byres of red brick in Flemish bond, roofed with red clay 'Roman' tiles and corrugated iron, enclosing the NE apd NW sides of the NW foldyard. These are of the late C19. Minor extensions and lean-tos within the above complex. The whole forms an exceptionally complete farm complex, in use for rearing calves at time of survey, February 1985. Included for group value.
