TL 5503 ONGAR HIGH STREET (W side) 8/103 Central House

GV II

Shops, formerly Ongar Academy. Early C19. Brick built with painted ashlar finished stucco. Hipped grey slate roof to central forward block, which has a central pediment with apron and is of 3 storeys. Parapets to left and right blocks with band and moulded cornice, 2 storeys, 2 window range. Central block with 3:1:3 window range to first and second floors, with band between. The whole with 1:2:1 C20 plain shop windows with fascias over, all other windows double hung sashes with glazed margins. Central panelled door, part glazed, surround with reveal panels, fluted pilasters, nail head patera, moulded frieze and moulded, flat canopy. To the right is a board and nail door in plain surround with light over, to the left a part glazed door with light over.
