Details
SW 97 NW ST MINVER ROCK LOWLANDS 3/325 Rock Sailing Club House (formerly listed as 'The 6.6.69 Storehouse on Rock Quay') GV II Warehouse converted to sailing club house in 1976. Circa early C19. Built on Quay (qv) on east bank, of Camel Estuary. Stone rubble, partly slate hung on north front. Renewed scantle slate roof with half hipped ends. Rectangular plan with interior partitions altered. Originally used for storage of coal on ground floor, grain on first and animal feed on top floor. A mill wheel was located on the first floor (now removed). South elevation faces across estuary. Two storeys and attic with asymmetrical three window front. C20 fenestration, largely in earlier openings with brick segmental arches. C20 roof lights to attic. Asymmetrical slate-hung north elevation with C20 fenestration. Interior altered. The clubhouse commands a prominent position in the picturesque Camel estuary and comprises one of the few surviving industrial buildings in Rock.
