C17 or earlier. Roughcast over stone rubble, thick walls, old slate roof,
large projecting chimney with offsets and round stack. Spinning gallery
at rear with turned balusters. Large gable with three string courses, new windows
to match old wood mullioned ones. South front has a gabled porch and four
windows on ground floor and five above, with wood mullions and transoms and
modern leaded lights. Heavy modern string course. Interior has beams, panelling,
Georgian round-arched alcove, a spice cupboard dated 1689, back door dated
1690 with original massive wooden lock, flagged floors, some grisaille
glass dated 1565, plaster ornament, plank partitions and cloak pegs, and
wood-pegged bedroom floors.
